Description

The Georgia Conservancy is excited to announce that it will honor the Georgia Tech College of Architecture as its 2015 Distinguished Conservationist at ecoBenefête on September 25. ecoBenefête, the Georgia Conservancy’s annual gala, celebrates an individual or institution that has gone above and beyond their peers in advancing conservation or sustainability in Georgia.

Join us for the wonderful celebration on September 25 at the American Spirit Works in Atlanta. ecoBenefête features a silent auction, a cocktail hour, a locally-source dinner and a few surprises!

ecoBenefete is cocktail party attire.

Tickets include an invitation to ecoBenefete: Under the Stars, a VIP after party hosted from 9:00 p.m. to midnight at the SweetWater Brewing Company, conveniently located adjacent to American Spirit Works and featuring live music from Atlanta’s neo-soul all-stars: All The Locals. The Georgia Tech Trolley will shuttle guests from American Spirit Works to SweetWater Brewing Company from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.

Georgia Tech has been at the forefront of efforts to promote sustainability in the fields of community planning and urban design through their partnership with the Georgia Conservancy’s Blueprints for Successful Communities planning and research program. From crafting a sustainable future growth model for Moreland, a small Georgia town of 400 people, to tackling the arresting threat of sea level rise on Georgia’s coast through multi-year research and design studios, the Georgia Tech College of Architecture is helping shape a more sustainable Georgia. The College's world-class professors and nearly 300 of its students have worked alongside the Georgia Conservancy on twenty-eight Georgia-focused Blueprints projects over 17 years. With the Distinguished Conservationist award, Georgia Conservancy recognizes both the College’s contributions to Georgia as well as our partnership with this renowned institution.

As Blueprints celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, it is fitting that we honor the Georgia Tech College of Architecture with the Distinguished Conservationist Award for their indispensable support in developing comprehensive and successful sustainable growth plans for communities large and small across Georgia.

Past recipients of the Distinguished Conservationist award include: The City of Columbus, Will Harris III, The Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation, E. Cody Laird Jr., Jim Kennedy, Emory University, Ray Weeks, Atlantic Station, Clay Long, Charles Brewer, Laura & Rutherford Seydel, Garden Club of Georgia, James Mackay, Congressman John Lewis, Atlanta Journal-Constitution Horizon section, Governor Zell Miller, Senator Sam Nunn, Ray Anderson, Chuck Leavell, Ted Turner, and Eugene Odum
